Defense & Government: Success
A significant factor in Spartan’s success in helping to produce defense products has been the hard work, dedication and specialized skills of its workforce.
Spartan has been honored as one of the government’s best suppliers for the past several years. Most recently, the Company received recognition for the quality and on-time delivery of its military parts shipments from Army Brig. Gen. Darrell K. Williams, Commanding General of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Land and Maritime, during the 2011 DLA Enterprise Supplier Conference and Exhibition held in Columbus, Ohio.
Spartan Chassis was one of only 38 companies out of more than 6,000 suppliers to earn a Gold Medal Award, which recognizes suppliers who attain a perfect score of 100. Spartan’s score was calculated using the computerized Automated Best Value System, which collects and compiles performance data including variables such as quality of shipments and on-time delivery to the Defense Logistics Agency, and then translates that information into a numeric score, ranging from zero to 100.
Spartan is known and has been publically recognized for its reliability, speed of manufacturing and effectively supporting customer needs related to spare parts and sustainment.
The DLA Land and Maritime, formerly known as the Defense Supply Center Columbus, is known to more than 25,000 military and civilian customers, and teams with more than 6,000 suppliers of land and maritime weapon systems parts. More than seven million orders are processed annually and sales are approximately $5 billion per year for the DLA, headquartered at Fort Belvoir, Va.
As well, senior U.S. military officials and executives from major defense contractors BAE Systems and Force Protection recognized Spartan employees for their critical role in the rapid production and deployment of MRAP vehicles during two special ceremonies in 2008. Press Releases >
