CHARLOTTE, Michigan, September 6, 2005—Spartan Chassis, a subsidiary of Spartan Motors, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPAR), hosted their 11th annual Fire Truck Training Conference in Battle Creek, Michigan from Sunday, August 21st through Thursday, August 25th.
<>Over 180 fire department service technicians, fire apparatus manufacturers and fire department maintenance chiefs from the U.S. and Canada participated in Spartan Chassis’ Fire Truck Training Conference in Battle Creek, Michigan. Instructors from major suppliers of fire vocational equipment and Spartan Chassis training specialists taught 34 classes on vehicle system operation and maintenance. Three separate tracks of specialized classes were presented for the three categories of attendees. In addition to the maintenance classes, Spartan Chassis also provided an opportunity for technicians to get Emergency Vehicle Technician Certifications. >“Attendees are getting training on fire vocation equipment that is not available through traditional automotive and truck maintenance schools,” said William Foster, Vice President of Spartan Motors, Inc.
The Fire Truck Training Conference is one segment of Spartan’s comprehensive program that focuses on meeting the needs of the customer. The training conference provides numerous opportunities for technicians to refresh their service skills and learn new maintenance techniques at a very affordable, $100 price tag that includes all training classes and daily meals. The conference also provides a venue for customers to offer their feedback on Spartan’s products and network with other technicians in the field.
According to the participants, the four-day Conference was a success. The trainers provided technicians with excellent hands-on training opportunities and in-depth information on fire truck systems maintenance.
